When the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman to a three-year contract at the start of spring training, they did so with a sense he could prove transformative to their lineup. The third baseman has lived up to that billing in more ways than one.
In a 10-2 Red Sox win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Bregman continued his career-best start to the season. He went 3 for 5 and pounded a first-inning solo homer down the left-field line, his sixth long ball of the season, to improve his early season line to .331/.401/.570. He’s producing at an elite level.
“He’s a complete hitter,” said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. “He understands what he needs to do to be successful, and so far so good.”
