A Message from Principal Ritter
Greetings Gator Families,
What a truly fantastic chorus performance we enjoyed yesterday from over 100 5th and 6th grade students. The talent, dedication, and sheer joy radiating from our young singers were simply wonderful to witness. Their hard work under the guidance of our amazing music teachers shone brightly.
The musical journey at Kings Glen is far from over! We are now eagerly anticipating upcoming concerts from our talented band and strings ensembles. It's truly remarkable that over 90% of our students participate in our various optional music programs, a testament to the vibrant and rich musical culture we've cultivated here which is only possible because of the support provided by our families. This incredible level of engagement doesn't happen by chance. It's a direct result of the unwavering commitment from everyone in Gator Nation – our enthusiastic students, our passionate and skilled staff, and, of course, our incredibly supportive families. Your encouragement and involvement make all the difference.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our chorus, and we look forward to sharing more beautiful music with you soon from our band and strings students!

Friendly Reminder Regarding Toys, Games and Sporting Equipment
Toys, games, and sporting equipment should not be brought to school. There are instances when a teacher may request a specific item from their students. On these occasions, parents/guardians will be informed. Toys, games, and sporting equipment can be a distraction in the educational setting, may get lost, or could cause safety issues off campus (i.e. bus stop, walking to school, etc.). For these reasons, these items are prohibited at Kings Glen. Any such items will be kept in the main office for parents to come pick up at their earliest convenience during office hours (8 a.m.–4 p.m.).
Purchase Your 2024-25 Yearbook
You can still order a yearbook but only while supplies last. The price of a yearbook is $16. Email KGNotes@fcps.edu with questions. Thank you!

Social and Emotional Learning Screener: Parent Reports
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March. The screener provides information on their SEL skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how much their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. Families who do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive their results via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the SEL Screener Results Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.
Share Feedback With County Health Department on School Health Services
The Fairfax County Health Department and Fairfax County Public Schools School Health Services invite parents/caregivers of FCPS students to participate in a survey on satisfaction with school health room services. The survey takes about five minutes to complete and will be open until Monday, May 5th.
School health rooms (clinics) are managed by public health nurses and school health aides. Those staff provide care for students who become sick or injured during the school day, who require medications during the school day, and/or who have a chronic health condition that requires management during the school day.
Additionally, the school health room staff:
- Provide health education, communicable disease prevention, and health screenings.
- Work with schools to help address the root causes of population health disparities so that all students have equitable access to educational and health opportunities.
- Ensure that students have care for minor injuries and illnesses, and chronic health conditions, thus helping to minimize health barriers to learning.
