U.S. President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Mark Carney a “very nice gentleman” and said he expects the Canadian leader to visit him at the White House within a week.
 

Speaking to reporters in Washington, the President was asked about Mr. Carney’s comments in his victory speech after the Liberal Party won the 2025 federal election. In his Tuesday remarks, Mr. Carney told cheering supporters that America has betrayed Canada by its protectionist tariffs.
