The US and Ukraine have finally signed a long-awaited deal involving Ukraine's natural resources, after months of contentious negotiations. It will see Kyiv share profits with Washington from the future sale of Ukraine's mineral and energy reserves, with the aim of providing an economic incentive for the US to continue to invest in Ukraine's defence and reconstruction as the war with Russia rages on. When Israel first began its war in Gaza in response to Hamas' 7 October attack, few Israelis doubted the conflict's logic: to defeat Hamas and return the hostages. But as the war grinds on, opposition is growing. In recent weeks, thousands of Israeli reservists have signed letters demanding the government stop the fighting and focus on reaching a deal to bring back the remaining 59 hostages, stating that they fear their country is "losing its way".
