Kings Glen Code Up! Summer Program

A Summer Enrichment Program for Kings Glen Students

Ignite your child's curiosity this summer in a fun, hands-on program that blends exciting science exploration with the power of coding at Kings Glen! We are fortunate enough to have funding available to create an opportunity for approximately 50 students.

  • Location: Kings Glen Elementary School
  • Time: 8:30am - 1:00pm (exact time being finalized)
  • Dates: June 23 - July 11, 2025 (must attend all three weeks - no class on July 4th)

Please sign up using THIS LINK if you are interested in participating in the KG Code Up! Summer Program no later than Friday, May 9th.  Families will be notified no later than Monday, May 19th if their child was selected to attend.

CODEUP! SUMMER PROGRAM

What will your child do?

  • Discover Science:  Explore fascinating topics like energy flow in ecosystems, thermal energy, technology concepts and more through engaging lessons and activities.
  • Learn to Code:  Learn coding basics and physical computing including inputs/outputs (buttons, LEDs), sensors (light, temperature), conditionals, variables, and loops.
  • Build Cool Projects:  Design, code, and create unique projects using the micro:bit – from simple animations to data collectors! Create a functioning solar oven!
  • Explore Outdoors:  Participate in walking field trips to observe nature, collect real-world data (ex. light levels, temperature, water quality), and understand energy transfer in local ecosystems.
  • Analyze & Solve:  Use data collected during activities and field trips, connect it to science lessons, and solve fun micro:bit challenges.
  • Collaborate & Share:  Work individually and in teams, develop problem-solving skills, and share project creations!
