VDH NEWS RELEASE: Virginia Health Officials Confirm First 2025 Measles Case in the State
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported the state’s first measles case of the year. The patient is a child (0-4 years) in the Northwest Region who recently traveled internationally. Health officials are coordinating efforts to identify anyone who might have been exposed.
Health Department Provides New Opportunities for Lead Testing of Common Household Items Through New "Detect and Protect" Program
In an effort to curtail children’s household exposure to products that contain lead, the Fairfax County Health Department is holding monthly lead testing events at Annandale Farmers Market and Mount Vernon Farmers Market from 8 am-12 pm. During these events, residents may bring household items for lead testing. Appointments are not required. These opportunities begin May 8 at Annandale Farmers Market.

May 7 REAL ID Federal Enforcement Deadline
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Vital Records reminds Virginians that, beginning May 7, 2025, a REAL ID compliant driver's license or ID card, or another federally approved form of ID, will be required to board a domestic flight, enter a secure facility or military base.
