This is the second message and reminder of the Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) End-of-Life (EOL) for all CMS Cloud customers.

Based on guidance from AWS Professional Services and the CMS Hybrid Cloud Team, all AL2 customers must transition to Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) by Tuesday, July 1, 2025, instead of the previously announced deadline. Please note that the current AL2023 EOL is June 2029. 

Action Required

Customers with AL2 instances are asked to decommission them and migrate to AL2023 by Tuesday, July 1, 2025. On Friday, April 18, 2025, all customers with active AL2 instances received dedicated support tickets listing the AL2 instances to be closed before July 1, 2025. Moving forward, each customer with open AL2 instances will receive dedicated emails until those instances are closed. Please reply to the Hybrid Cloud support ticket assigned to your team, by Monday, May 12, 2025, with your planned timeline to upgrade to AL2023.

We will release the last AL2 CMS Gold Images (GIs) on Friday, June 13, 2025.

• Monday, May 12, 2025: Deadline to provide your timeline to upgrade to AL2023 in the Hybrid Cloud support ticket assigned to your team. 
• Friday, June 13, 2025: Last monthly release of AL2 CMS GIs.
• Tuesday, July 1, 2025: Deadline to transition to AL2023.
