Final Draft  Design Concept

Arlington County is seeking your feedback on the final draft concept for the
23rd and Eads Park Renovation project. You can review the proposed updates and share your thoughts using this online form, open through May 22.

What’s New in the Final Concept?

• Blended Community Vision: Design incorporates the most popular elements from earlier Concepts 1 and 3, shaped by public input.

• Natural Materials & Tone: Wood seating, screen elements, plantings, and finishes create a softer, more connected-to-nature feel.

• Shaded Gathering Space: Canopy trees and overhead structures provide relief from the sun and define cozy seating zones.

• Integrated Lighting: Proposed energy-efficient LED lighting includes festoon string lights and low-level fence lighting to improve nighttime ambiance.
  
  

• Historic and Cultural Character: A new park sign will reflect the area’s unique identity, and a partial wood fence ties the space together visually.

• Community Naming in Progress: Four names rose to the top from community submissions:

  • 23rd Street Plaza

  • Firehouse Plaza (honoring the site of a former firehouse)

  • Restaurant Row Plaza

  • Pride Plaza (inspired by nearby murals and LGBTQIA+ landmarks)

  Community feedback has been essential to shaping this vision. Now’s your chance to help refine the final design and weigh in on the park’s future name.
