A Message From Principal Morris
It’s Time to Celebrate and Appreciate our SLES Staff!
Happy SLES Staff Appreciation Week!
It’s time to celebrate our extraordinary educators who dedicate incalculable hours to our students every single day here at Stratford Landing. I’d like to thank our PTA in advance for all the wonderful plans they have for our SLES staff next week. Many of these plans are made possible through your financial contributions from events like Rock N Run. Your donations impact our school community and staff morale positively.
Being an educator is so much more than simply delivering lessons. Our teachers are mentors, guiding students not only through academic concepts but also through the complexities of life and “growing up”. I frequently tell our staff there are no coincidences at our school. Everything … Every aspect of our school day … is by design. The social and academic growth of our students is not an accident. It’s a result of very strategic and purposeful interactions from our SLES Staff with students each and every school day. Our staff are cheerleaders for students, celebrating every milestone, big or small. They are nurturers, creating a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to take risks. They are inspirers, igniting a passion for learning and sparking curiosity that extends far beyond the classroom walls.
As principal I’m able to observe the deep affection our students hold for their teachers. Every day, I hear stories of educators who go the extra mile, who offer a listening ear, who make learning fun and engaging. It’s always, “My teacher did this …” or “My teacher did that …” or, “Mr. Morris, you know I have the best teacher ever, right?” From the enthusiastic greetings in the morning to the heartfelt "thank yous" at the end of the day, our students consistently demonstrate their appreciation for the dedication and care they receive from our SLES staff. One of my favorite parts of a school day is watching a student run (literally, run) into the arms of a staff member for that morning hug that they have probably been thinking about since the evening prior.
Furthermore, the positive feedback from our community is a constant source of pride for me. Families often share anecdotes about how a particular staff member has made a significant difference in their child's life. Just this week I received four emails from families shouting out the work of a staff member. We hear about (and see) teachers who volunteer their time for extracurricular activities, who communicate effectively with families, and who are truly invested in the overall well-being of our students. We’ve had several after-school events (including one on the weekend) and it was notable how many SLES staff members were present and involved in the event. These affirmations from our families reinforce the incredible impact our SLES staff has on the lives of our little dolphins.
This SLES Staff Appreciation Week, let us all take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to these remarkable individuals. I am grateful for their heart and dedication. Schools can be very challenging work environments, and our staff “Show Their SLES” every day. Thank you.
