New Physical Policy For VHSL
Legislation introduced in the Virginia General Assembly and recently signed into law will result in two significant changes to the athletic pre-participation examination (physical) requirements for FCPS student-athletes:
- Beginning July 1, 2025, athletic physicals will be considered valid for a period of 14 months from the date the form is signed by the medical provider completing the exam. This is the date on page 3 of the VHSL Athletic Participation/Parent Consent/Physical Examination Form (revised January 2021).
- Beginning May 1, 2025, FCPS student-athletes are EXPECTED to have athletic physicals completed on the new VHSL Athletic Participation/Parental Consent/Evaluation Form (revised April 2025).

MOUNT VERNON HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PHYSICAL EVENT
ATHLETIC PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EXAMS
On Thursday, May 8th, 2025 Mount Vernon High School will host an opportunity for MV student athletes to receive a complete and comprehensive pre-participation physical exam (PPE) that will be valid for the entirety of the 2025-26 academic year.
This event will serve as the primary fundraiser for the Mount Vernon Athletic Training Program – we thank you for your support and donation which goes a long way towards allowing our student athletes in all sports to stay healthy, playing to their highest potential!
Appointments begin at 5:30pm and end at 7:15pm – appointments will fill quickly, so please do not delay! Walk-in exams are $50 cash, BUT…

El jueves 8 de mayo de 2024, la escuela Secundaria Mount Vernon, ofrecerá una oportunidad para que los estudiantes atletas de MV reciban un examen físico completo previo a la participación en deportes (PPE) que será válido durante todo el año académico 2025-26.
Este evento servirá como la principal recaudación de fondos para el Programa de Entrenamiento Atlético de Mount Vernon; le agradecemos su apoyo y donación, que contribuye en gran medida a permitir que nuestros estudiantes atletas en todos los deportes se mantengan saludables, y jueguen a su máximo potencial.
