Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,
It has been a busy week at Flint Hill! Thank you to the many families and staff members who came out last week to support the PTA basketball game! It was a lively atmosphere with friendly competition. We also enjoyed a great turnout for Pie in the Face on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to the parents, students and volunteers and a special thank you to the staff members who braved the onslaught of whipped cream pies!
Tonight, Ms. Kuykendall and Ms. Chang are proudly representing FHES at the FCPS Get2Green Share Fair. This is an opportunity for other FCPS school to learn and share about outdoor learning programs. I am proud of our commitments to green learning and the instructional moments it creates for our students.
The annual FHES Field Day is quickly approaching! See the message below to learn about how you can volunteer and support the event with Ms. Garner and Ms. Coffey.
Save the date for Bike, Walk and Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 7th! Details on how to participate are in the messages below.

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March. The screener provides information on their SEL skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how much their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. Families who do not have an active ParentVUE account will receive their results via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the SEL Screener Results Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.

Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
Help your child succeed by encouraging them to attend as many days as possible, but do make sure your child stays home if they are sick. Visit FCPS’ website for information on when to keep your child at home.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify their teacher so that support can be provided if needed. Also, keep an open line of communication with your school's public health staff.
Read about how families can help form good attendance habits. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Good communication between home and school is vital to a successful school experience for each child. Questions relating to your child should be directed to the classroom teacher. All teachers have voice mail and an e-mail address. The school has a web page that links directly to each teacher’s e-mail.
Each year, FCPS produces a Handbook for its FCPS families. It contains valuable information you may need throughout the year, including calendars, services, and special programs, the instructional program, and information about starting school. Flint Hill Elementary has produced a handbook that includes some additional notes that are important for our school community.
