The Republicans in the House passed a bill that will cause a lot of pain to a lot of people if passed by the Senate. Fifteen million Americans will lose their health care in order to finance a huge tax cut for the wealthy. Here is what’s in the bill. Heather Cox Richardson says the bill is an “omnibus bill,” designed to put everything Trump wants into place. She calls it an important historic moment, and I recommend you listen to her video in which she explains it. Yesterday, Trump ordered Harvard University to end admission of all foreign students, and that those already there had to leave, Harvard sued. A judge blocked Trump’s effort today. Criticism of Trump was removed from a documentary about Art Spiegelman, the graphic novelist who wrote Maus. The segment was removed two weeks before airing on PBS. I’ve seen the documentary, and it’s good. This segement will not change the documentary, but it is a sign of fear on the part of public television. I have found the news particularly hard to read the last few days, there has been such a volume of negative news. But I still have hope. I can’t end this rather negative post without giving you something upbeat. Thanks for being here! I will do a live draw session tomorrow, it’s been a long time! Have a great Friday night.
