Message from Dr. Khoshaba

Greetings, SoCo family,

As we close out another remarkable school year at South County High School, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you—our incredible parents and guardians—for your unwavering support, partnership, and commitment to our students’ success. Your involvement, whether through volunteering, cheering on our Stallions at events, or collaborating with our staff, has helped shape SoCo into the premier high school in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Together, we have built a community grounded in excellence, pride, and purpose—and we are stronger because of you.

Running Away with the Glory! Our Track teams left the competition in the dust last weekend at the State Championship! Congratulations to the unstoppable Girls Track team for sprinting their way to a State Title, and hats off to the Boys team for racing to an impressive third-place finish. Talk about track-ing down success—SoCo continues to set the pace in Virginia!

State Champions

Making Waves at the Summer Games Like a champion swimmer slicing through still water, Yamato made a powerful splash at the Special Olympics State Games in Richmond. He brought home a silver medal in the 25-meter breaststroke and a bronze in the 50-meter breaststroke, a testament to his hard work and dedication. He also placed 7th in the 50-meter freestyle, competing with heart and determination. We are incredibly proud of Yamato and all the athletes who dove into the weekend with courage, strength, and spirit.

Swinging with Heart, Season of Pride The SoCo softball team played this season with grit, grace, and unmatched determination. Though their journey ended in a heartbreaking loss during the State quarterfinals, their spirit never wavered. Like a tightly knit glove, this team held together through every high and low, showing what true teamwork looks like. We’re proud of their accomplishments and thankful for the memories they created on and off the field.

Goal-Oriented and Richmond Bound! Kudos to the Girls Soccer team for their impressive 1-0 triumph over Washington-Liberty in a tense, hard-fought battle. Their determination and teamwork have truly kicked expectations up a notch as they advance in the State competition. Every pass, save, and shot reflected their commitment to excellence. We can’t wait to see them shine in the State Semi-Finals in Richmond this weekend!

“Last weekend, our crew team hosted rising freshmen at their spring open house, offering an opportunity for prospective rowers to try out the sport and get more information. This past season, our rowers brought home two state championships with 10 gold medals and another 10 bronze states medals, going on to have all competing boats place top 20 in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia––the largest high school regatta in the world––and having two boats place in the top 15 at the SRAA National Championships in New Jersey. Our crew team will host another open house in the fall for interested athletes, as well as fall on-the-water practices for anyone to try out rowing with no cost and no commitment! You can keep up with them and get more information on Instagram or Facebook at @rowsocorow or at sc-crew.org.”
