Air India crash, aviation security panel & rail infra boost: What was important in the week gone by!

Hello readers,
The tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171, on Thursday last week, is one of the worst civil aviation accidents in history. While the technical investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is still ongoing, the government is now taking the initial steps which might lead to a major framework for enhancing civil aviation security in the country.

The government has set up a high-level committee, led by the secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to look into the broader aviation security landscape in the country. The panel will also undertake an independent assessment of the plane crash.

As Indian airlines order a record number of aircraft for their domestic and international operations, there is now an increasing need to create an overarching institutional framework which focuses on air transport safety.
