Churchill Chatter - Issue 19, June 16, 2025
Dear Churchill Road Families,
As we finish out the year, we would like to thank all of you for your continued partnership and support. We could not do what we do without you. This summer will be a little more quiet, but it will be busy too, as we begin planning for the new school year.
FCPS will be adding a security vestibule to our front lobby beginning this week. If you are planning on visiting the school, please call ahead, 703-288-8400, to ensure access.
We also are happy to announce that Mr. Nick Kilpatrick has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Churchill Road this week. Mr. Kilpatrick has been a dedicated member of our community for the past 14 years, serving in a variety of roles, most recently in the staff development position. In speaking with him, he expressed a deep commitment to our shared belief that all students are our students and a strong passion for collaboration. He loves our school and is committed to doing whatever it takes to support each student, family, and staff member. Nick believes in leading with consistency, care, and high expectations as we continue to move our school vision forward together. Please join me in officially welcoming Mr. Kilpatrick into this role.
We hope all of our families will take time this summer to relax, go on adventures, read new books and enjoy time together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall.
Have a wonderful summer!
The entire Churchill Road Elementary School staff

Churchill Road Composting Update
Statistics based on CO2e (carbon equivalency).
Thank you all for your incredible partnership and support in continuing the CRS composting program this year. Together, we made a meaningful environmental impact - please see our dashboard stats above. (Statistics based on CO2e (carbon Equivalency). This number allows us to translate abstract measurements into concrete terms we can understand, such as the emissions from cars, households, or power plants. To learn more, visit the EPA's Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator
The composting will resume in August with the start of new school year.
Churchill Road Summer Skills Resource
The Churchill Road Elementary School staff created this Summer Skills resource in response to family interest in supporting learning over the summer months. It’s designed to highlight the key skills that will help your child feel confident and prepared for the upcoming school year. Consider creating your own book clubs, family game nights, field trips, and helping in your community.
You'll find guidance on developmental expectations in areas such as Language Arts, Math, Listening, and Social Skills for students rising into Grades K–6.
That said, we believe the most important part of summer is for kids to relax, recharge, and have fun! So, whether you use these resources a little, a lot, or just for your own information, we hope they offer helpful support for your family.
