As we close out an incredible school year, I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for the Justice High School community. This year has been filled with powerful moments of growth, resilience, achievement, and joy. I continue to be inspired every single day by our students, our dedicated staff, and the unwavering support from our families and from our broader community.
It is truly an honor to serve as principal of a school I love so deeply. Justice is such a special place. We are a vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community where every student has an advocate, can thrive in and out of the classroom, and reach their full potential. Please take a moment to read about our Year of Success directly below this message.
I’m filled with gratitude to be part of this community and am excited for the years ahead. Thank you for all the support you’ve provided to Justice and our community this year. I hope you all have a wonderful, restful summer.

The 2024–2025 school year at Justice High School was defined by exceptional academic growth, student achievement, community engagement, and school pride. It was truly a Year of Success for the Wolves.
Academic Excellence was evident across all departments. Advanced Via Individual Determination (AVID) expanded again to serve more multilingual learners, with students earning placements in elite summer programs at institutions like Princeton and University of Virginia. The Justice High School Scholarship Fund awarded over $310,000 to 106 seniors, and over 100 students earned direct admission to George Mason University.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and IB Certificate participation reached new heights, with the largest-ever cohorts taking English and subject exams. Ninety-three seniors were IB Diploma candidates (3rd in FCPS), and 103 sophomores earned IB Middle Years Program (MYP) certificates.
In English department, Reading SOL pass rates surged, with a 14% gain among students with disabilities, and 11th-grade Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) scores soared by 26 percentile points.
The English as a Second Language (ESOL) department led the county, with Justice outperforming FCPS high schools by 11.5% on WIDA literacy and reading domains and achieving a 97% testing rate. Nearly a quarter of long-term Multi-Language Learners (ML) exited services. Justice also celebrated Emme Mejia as Region 2 New Teacher of the Year! Congratulations, Ms. Mejia!
The Math department again ensured all seniors were SOL-exempt, and Geometry and Algebra 1 outpaced the district in subgroup performance.
Science and Social Studies showed strong gains, with improved SOL results and regional science fair honors. 100% of seniors passed the US/VA History SOL, and all graduation-critical Project Based Assessments (PBA) were completed successfully.
In Career/Technical Education department, students earned record-setting certifications, and STEM students won the DC Fast Lap electric car competition.
In the arts, Justice earned Blue Ribbon status for the second year (choir, band, and orchestra all rated "superior"). Students amassed regional awards, college arts placements, and district- and state-level recognitions in visual and performing arts. The Wind Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble made history with new performance accolades.
Student Services launched its first Parent Universities and boosted family engagement through weekly newsletters and increased ParentVUE usage. Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) screener participation jumped by 24%, outpacing county averages by over 20%.
The Class of 2025 graduated currently enrolled seniors at an incredible 99.7% on-time rate, the best in years!
On the field, Justice athletics continued to impress: 11 National District individual champions, 13 state qualifiers, and new school records in track and swim. Girls Lacrosse won the district, and the Junior Women’s Quad Rowing team won a state championship AND placed SECOND at Nationals! Justice is the only FCPS high school that placed in a national competition this year! Academic success paralleled athletic performance, with 84% of student-athletes maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher in season, with Girls Cross Country achieving a 4.6 GPA and Boys Indoor Track a 4.3.

Congratulations to Emmeline (Emme) Mejia! Our own Ms. Mejia won the FCPS Secondary New Teacher of the Year award last week at the annual FCPS Honors Event!
To achieve this award she was first nominated at the school level, then went on to the pyramid and next Region 2 level. She was selected as the winner for each of those levels which then placed her among the other Region winners for this award. Last Wednesday night, at the FCPS Honors event, she was announced as the winner for all of Fairfax County Public Schools. We are very proud to have Ms. Mejia as a part of our family here. She is in her second year teaching ESOL classes, and is already making a huge impact. Her work goes beyond individualized lesson plans for students as she seeks opportunities for students through local resources. She is a mentor with Young Life, a leader in the EnFuego soccer club, and has also brought in resources to assist students in getting physicals to name just a few. Congratulations Ms. Mejia!
Starting Friday, June 20 - Friday, August 1, Justice offices will operate on summer hours. During this time, our offices will be open from 9 am - 1 pm. Offices will be closed Friday, July 4. Happy Summer!
As we look ahead to next school year, we want to make sure all families are aware of the process for obtaining a senior parking permit. At Justice High School, our parking spots are limited to just 52 student parking spots. Due to the limited number of spaces, we reserve every student parking spot for seniors first.
If you have a senior student for the upcoming school year, you will receive an eNotify message by the end of this week that will have more details and include the two forms (the Student Parking Agreement and Student Parking Application Form) required to apply. Your student will also receive an email with similar information in their @fcpsschoosl.net account the same day. Both forms will be due by Friday, August 8th.
Students who have their application number drawn in the lottery will be contacted and payment details will be shared. No payment will be accepted prior to the lottery. The 2025-2026 FCPS parking permit fees will also be shared in the email sent to senior families. The only situation where a student may be granted a parking permit outside of the lottery would be if transportation were required for an academic academy/internship class off site during the school day. These exceptions will be made only if FCPS transportation is not available from Justice to the intended destination.
Additional immunizations are required for students entering 7th and 12th grades:
- All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations before the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- To meet the Tdap requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age seven or older.
- To meet the MenACWY requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 10 or older.
- As a parent/guardian, you may decide not to have your child receive the HPV vaccination. If that is the case, the school does not require documentation.
- All students entering 12th grade are to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) before the beginning of school.
- To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, the vaccination must be administered at age 16 or older.
Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.
Local immunization clinics and additional resources are available on the FCPS Immunization Resources webpage and from the Fairfax County Health Department.
SAT School Day and PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) exams will be held at each high school, including ours, on Wednesday, October 8, at no cost to families. The digital SAT School Day exam is offered to 12th grade students, and the digital PSAT/NMSQT exam is provided to 10th and 11th grade students.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities and Multilingual Learner Supports
Because these exams are operated by the College Board, students do not automatically receive testing accommodations or multilingual learner (ML) supports. If you have a student with disabilities entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, please review the accommodations request process and return forms to our school by Monday, August 4, to request new or updated College Board testing accommodations.
If you have a multilingual learner (ML) entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, please review the ML support request process and return forms by Thursday, August 28, if you wish to request ML supports for the October 2025 PSAT/NMSQT or SAT School Day.

All Fairfax County middle and high school students can get a Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card to ride the Fairfax Connector and Fairfax CUE buses for free! With the pass, fares are free from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year. Learn more about the Student Pass. Complete the application and return it to our front office.
Our students can ride Metrobus for free, in addition to the Fairfax Connector and City of Fairfax CUE. Visit the Fairfax County website for details and approved Metrobus routes. Complete the application and return it to our front office.

 Congratulations to Mr. Aubrey Springer, who celebrated the end of his 45th year with FCPS (all at Justice!) last week at our end-of-year luncheon. Mr. Springer, thank you for all you've done to support this community throughout your career. We're so fortunate to work with you at Justice!

The General Colin L. Powell Memorial Service Award is presented by Our Community Salutes, USA to a school counselor whose service, compassion, and commitment exemplify the highest standards of professional excellence.
This year, the award was bestowed upon Ms. Fig, who was nominated by Staff Sergeant Jasmine Stevenson (U.S. Army). Sergeant Stevenson submitted a compelling nomination highlighting Ms. Fig’s exceptional dedication to students, her commitment to lifelong learning, and her meaningful contributions to supporting military recruitment efforts.
Ms. Fig has demonstrated outstanding leadership in guiding students through post-secondary planning, including alternative pathways such as military service. Her collaborative work with Justice-zoned military recruiters has ensured that students are well-informed and prepared—ranging from initial consultations to Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) preparation.
Ms. Fig was formally recognized at the Our Community Salutes, USA - Military Enlistee Recognition Ceremony, which honors graduating seniors from the DMV region who have taken the Military Oath of Enlistment. As a direct result of her efforts, three out of the four confirmed military enlistments from the Class of 2025 at her school will proudly serve in various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
