Chip restrictions: The US has revoked permission for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to freely ship essential gear to its China production facility, a similar move imposed on Samsung and SK Hynix to require licenses before allowing technology transfers.

Apple defections: The iPhone maker lost its lead AI robotics researcher to Meta Platforms — and three other researchers to AI firms  continuing an exodus of talent from the company.

OpenAI acquisition: The ChatGPT maker agreed to buy product testing startup Statsig for $1.1 billion in an all-stock deal, marking one of its biggest acquisitions.

Revalued

Anthropic almost tripled its valuation to $183 billion in a fundraising round that expanded as more and more investors sought a piece of the artificial intelligence company. The firm, a key rival to OpenAI, initially held talks to raise $5 billion, before doubling that target and finally hauling in $13 billion.
