In my years covering higher education, I’ve watched leaders navigate extraordinary challenges — from the enrollment cliff to political pressures to the rapid rise of generative AI. At the same time, I’ve seen campuses reimagine what’s possible, finding new ways to serve students and strengthen the value of higher education.
This September, we’re bringing those conversations together at Chronicle Festival 2025: Innovation Amid Uncertainty, a free virtual event on September 16–18.
Over three afternoons, you’ll hear from some of the most influential voices in higher education, including Steven Pinker, Kim Hunter Reed, and Russell Lowry-Hart. But as importantly, we will hear from you. The event provides The Chronicle's newsroom a fantastic opportunity to learn more about your concerns, hopes, and tips on how to solve problems big and small. The QnA in Zoom will be open and while we may not be able to respond to all the questions and comments there, I read them all and share them with other editors and reporters here to discuss and consider as we cover higher ed.
So, I’d be delighted if you would join me — and thousands of your colleagues—for this important conversation. Registration is complimentary, and as an added benefit, you’ll also gain access to our festival companion collection of in-depth Chronicle reporting and an exclusive interview.
