In this conversation, Lauren opens up about her intuitive design process, the emotional power of storytelling, and how she finds calm amidst the ever-changing currents of style.


You’re the founder of multiple brands across fashion, interiors, and hospitality. Where does your creative process begin when you’re building something new?

My process always begins with a feeling and a story. I ask myself: What emotion do I want someone to experience, and what narrative am I trying to tell through this brand or project?


Whether it’s the confidence of putting on a well-designed jacket, the comfort of walking into a thoughtfully designed space, or the warmth of gathering at a bar, it always starts there. From that foundation, I begin to build out the tangible elements, textures, colors, materials, even music or scent. That can bring that emotion and story to life. For me, the creative process is always rooted in experience first, and then I design the visual and physical world around it.


Your mission is “to make everything beautiful.” What does that mean to you in practice?

For me, “making everything beautiful” isn’t about perfection; it’s about intention. It’s taking the time to elevate small details, whether that’s the stitching on a garment, the way light hits stone in a space, or the branding on a cocktail napkin. Beauty is in how something makes you feel as much as how it looks. It’s about creating moments that feel thoughtful, refined, and timeless.


How do you define the feeling you want your audience to walk away with—whether it’s wearing a piece or walking into a space you designed?

I want people to feel a sense of belonging and elevation at the same time. When someone wears Sports Club Atelier, they should feel both chic and connected to the team culture. When they walk into a space I design, it should feel warm, layered, and transportive, like it could be in Europe, but it’s right here at home. My goal is always to balance aspiration with comfort so people feel inspired yet at ease.


As someone deeply rooted in aesthetic expression, how do you stay inspired without getting overwhelmed by trends?

I look to history and timeless references more than fleeting trends. European architecture, vintage pieces, the colors of nature. That grounds me. I’ll pay attention to trends, but I filter them through my own lens so that what I create doesn’t feel disposable or dated in a year. Instead, it becomes part of a bigger story I’m telling across all of my brands.


What’s a word that defines your aesthetic right now?

Grounded. Even as I lean into elegance and refinement, I want everything I create to feel rooted, whether in history, in nature, or in the authentic experiences of the people engaging with it. For me, beauty comes from that balance of sophistication and approachability, where spaces, clothing, and moments feel timeless yet deeply connected to real life.
