What's the story? 1 million Australian homes could become uninsurable due to worsening climate change. That's one key finding of the federal government's comprehensive assessment of how a warming world will impact us all.

What's in the climate report? The National Climate Risk Assessment released yesterday paints a troubling picture of where Australia will be most impacted by climate change. Our team has trawled through the report's 1,000-plus pages to map out what it could look like as Australia approaches 3C of warming.

Out west: Among the areas worst affected by the increasing heat will be Western Sydney. Across Australia's largest city, heatwave deaths could jump by more than 400 per cent. That's putting the issue of urban heat back into sharp focus, especially in areas further inland where ambitious efforts to combat the problem will be needed.

Plymouth Brethren: Those who speak out against the wealthy church say they've been pursued by private investigators and subjected to threats and intimidation. In part two of Four Corners's investigation, we can reveal the extraordinary lengths some senior figures in the secretive Christian church are willing to go to protect its reputation.

Australia-PNG defence treaty: Our PNG correspondent Marian Faa can exclusively reveal new details of the bilateral agreement set to be signed later this week. A PNG cabinet document seen by the ABC states the treaty will give both countries the ability to bite "like a crocodile".

'Ambulance at the bottom of a cliff': Thousands of Australians could avoid needing to sign up for the NDIS, a prominent psychologist says. With the scheme's price tag hitting $52 billion this year, former Australian of the Year Patrick McGorry says preventative measures could be one way to ease the burden.
