LFG. 🔥 The Best Compliment I Ever Got About My ContentA few months ago, I was having a conversation with someone who was joining The Launchpad. She told me that my content “did not have any empty calories.” I thought that was a great analogy. Most of the content that gets published online is the internet marketing version of cupcakes, booze, and potato chips. It feels good to consume, but it does nothing to improve your long term wellness. When I publish content, my goal is always to provide value to the type of person who is interested in learning what I have to share. The talking heads on YouTube do nothing but blurt out opinions, give hot takes, and stir up controversy. This is a great way to get views, but a bad way to build a business. If you are serious about generating sales through content, the first thing you need to do is commit to creating content that generates leads and sales. This is not the same kind of content that generates views. You must stay discipline to what actually moves the needle. It is really that simple. The Video That Started It AllThe Machine Method exists because of one video I published. Last year, I was asked to be on the Niche Pursuits podcast. After the interview, I was flooded with questions about building directories. I was shocked because in my mind, directories are boring and no one cares about anything that is not about AI or becoming a billionaire. So I opened up loom, and I recorded a video about the two business models that directories provide. I hardly gave it a thought. I hit did some basic editing, published it to YouTube and since then that video has gotten 26,000 views. Realistically, that is not a lot of views. But the flood of inquiries I got was significant enough that I knew I had an opportunity here. So I started creating a course on directory building. That course has blossomed into The Launchpad, and my new partner and I even recently launched our AI tool to help people build directories. All because I took 30 minutes out of my day to teach people what I know how to do. All in all, this video catapulted this new business which has generated an extra $116,000 in revenue since March. The Purpose Of Your Content Is To Generate LeadsYour goal should not be to get famous. The internet is designed to constantly bring in new people, new topics, and new rage so in today’s world, fame is short lived anyway. Someone else is angry or there is another hot take, and the wheel keeps spinning. But you can bypass that entire system simply by sharing your experience in a way that provides value outside of creating a forgettable, yet entertaining dopamine hit. The things that matter to us in life are the things that are memorable. Think of the best meal you ever had. I highly doubt it was when you ran into 7/11 real quick to grab a hot dog before a long drive. It was probably filled with family, friends, great food, and great conversation. It was meaningful. It was not empty. The same is true with all your life’s experiences. We remember the experiences that move us. Effective content marketing is moving. It is remarkable, which is another way to say that someone would make a remark about it after they consumed it. Create and publish content that helps people in a specific vertical that you are trying to serve. If you do that long enough, the leads and sales will pour in. It is a statistical certainty.
