ordered a permanent injunction against Texas’s READER law, which has required books in the state to be rated for “sexually explicit” content since its passage in 2023. After record earnings last year, Bloomsbury Publishing’s explosive growth has tapered, with
sales for the first half of fiscal year 2026 dropping 11% from the same period last year. And Nancy Miller will

Book People Inc. v.
Wong, writing that the mandatory book rating law “compels speech, is void for vagueness, and is an unconstitutional prior restraint” on booksellers.

Nancy Miller Steps Down as Bloomsbury Trade Publishing DirectorEffective January 1, the 17-year Bloomsbury veteran will assume the role of executive editor, where she will continue shaping the adult list that has transformed the U.K.-based company's U.S. arm into a trade powerhouse. Bloomsbury will begin recruiting for a new adult publishing director to oversee both fiction and nonfiction, reporting to Sabrina McCarthy.
