Step into a Halloween weekend packed with thrills, treats and traditions across our parks. Enjoy ghostly golf, harvest festivals, a monster mash dash, family-friendly haunts and more:

• Halloween on the Farm at Frying Pan Farm Park
• Haunted Mini Golf at Oakmont Rec Center
• Ghost Town at Burke Lake Park
• Halloween Bash at South Run Rec Center
• Family Skate Night - Halloween Costume Skate and Dance Night at Franconia Rec Center

Weekend-Long Events

Early Voting  Friday - Sunday, hours vary Vote early at 16 sites across the county for the Nov. 4 General Election that includes contests for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and seats in the House of Delegates. Voting sites will be open Friday from 1 - 7 p.m., with the Fairfax County Government Center open from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m.

Apokalypse: Kingdom of Shadows

Friday - Sunday, 7 - 9:45 p.m.

Dare to visit the Workhouse Arts Center's haunted trails? For the first time, Workhouse is offering multiple experiences to give you plenty of time to scream, laugh and celebrate Halloween.

Spooky Halloween-Decorated Homes

Friday - Sunday, evening hours

Take a drive this weekend and go see spooktacular home haunts in the county, where local residents deck out their homes with ghosts, goblins, monsters and ghouls.

Friday, Oct. 24 Events

Sip and Solve (10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) Grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage and puzzle your heart out at the Richard Byrd Library in Springfield. Drinks and puzzles will be provided. All ages and abilities welcome.

Child and Me Yoga (10:30 - 11 a.m.)

Use stories, songs and poses to practice breathing, moving and relaxing techniques with your child at the Martha Washington Library in Alexandria. Please bring a yoga mat or beach towel. For children ages 1 to 4 with an adult. 

Stories from Around the World (10:30 - 11 a.m.)

Celebrate United Nations Day with us at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. Hear stories from different countries, sing songs and enjoy some coloring. 

Coffee and Origami (11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

Enjoy complimentary coffee and learn basic paper-folding skills to create origami shapes at the Reston Community Center's Cedar Ridge Neighborhood Center. This class is led by an instructor and includes all supplies. 

The Year of Fear: Machine Gun Kelly and the Manhunt That Changed the Nation (4 – 5:30 p.m.)

Join "The Year of Fear" author, Joe Urschel, at the Dolley Madison Library in McLean as he explains his research of a gripping true-crime account of the 1933 kidnapping of Charles Urschel. The oil tycoon was kidnapped by gangster George "Machine Gun" Kelly and his wife, Kathryn, during the lawless days of Depression-era America.

Teen Halloween Trivia Night (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)

Come to the Kingstowne Library for spooktacular trivia to get into the Halloween spirit. For teens ages 12 to 18. 

Saturday, Oct. 25 Events

Drug Take Back Day (hours vary) Take advantage of free, convenient, confidential and safe disposal of unused or expired medications during Drug Take Back Day. Drop off unused or expired medications at select locations throughout the county, including county police stations.

Signs of the Beaver Sketch Hike (10 a.m. - noon)

Learn about the lives of beavers, draw their tracks and hike to find signs of beaver activity at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria. All art materials will be provided. Registration is $18.

Witchy Violin Storytime (11 - 11:45 a.m.)

Celebrate spooky season with Allen and Price Violin Studios at the City of Fairfax Regional Library. Join us for a story with dramatic musical interpretation and hear violin students play seasonal pieces. Stay to make your own paper witch's hat.

Halloween Storytime and Make Your Own Trick or Treat Bag (11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

Sing songs and listen to Halloween stories at the Culmore Library in Falls Church. Afterwards, decorate your own trick-or-treat bag. All supplies will be provided.

Halloween Fun at Oakton Library (1 - 4 p.m.)

Put on your costume and come celebrate Halloween at Oakton Library. There will be bingo, games and crafts throughout the library.

Pumpkin Pool Patch (1:30 - 3:30 p.m.)

Splash into fall fun at the Floating Pumpkin Patch at the Audrey Moore Rec Center in Annandale. Swim, float and play with real pumpkins in the shallow pool — then pick your favorite one to take home. Registration is $20.
