 On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Fairfax City held an open house to give residents an opportunity to engage with interactive displays and speak directly with city staff and elected officials about the upcoming FY 2027 budget. Staff from every department were available to describe the services they provide and how they are funded.

Rock the Block with Dr. Fu & Herr Metal, Oct. 24
Don't miss the grand finale of our 2025 concert season. Rock out with Dr. FU & Herr Metal from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in Old Town Square. Buy dinner and drinks from food vendors and in the beer garden. No pets, please.
Herr Metal plays all the hair hits from the '80s and '90s, with flowing locks and an authentic stage show reminiscent of a concert you would expect to see circa 1987!

City Expands Trash and Recycling Cart Rollout
More size options and opt-out option offered
Fairfax City is enhancing its solid waste collection program with the introduction of new trash and recycling carts beginning January 2026. This citywide initiative aims to improve collection efficiency, safety, and service quality for residents.
In response to community feedback, the city has expanded the program to provide even greater flexibility. In addition to the standard 64-gallon carts, residents can now request smaller 32-gallon carts for trash, recycling, or both. Residents who prefer not to receive new carts may opt out of the program entirely. Read more.
