If you have a child who loves to sketch, doodle, and draw, like I do, we invite them to enter our 6th annual Cover Contest. The winning submission will be featured on a future cover of The Week Junior. Entries must be original, hand-drawn, and not generated or altered by artificial intelligence. See below for more information and links to the entry form and parental consent form. In the meantime, here are three questions to get a conversation going with your child this weekend. – Felissa Allard, Staff Writer
1. The organizers of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics made a historic announcement: For the first time in modern Olympic history, the opening ceremony will be held across multiple venues. There will be two Olympic flames lit and two flags raised, along with four Parades of Athletes taking place simultaneously. If you could be an Olympian in any sport, which would you choose?
2. For anyone who’s ever dealt with motion sickness, scientists in China have some good news. According to a new study, listening to music can help alleviate that queasy feeling, especially if you’re listening to joyful tunes. Do you have a favorite type of music that helps cheer you up or make you feel better?
3. Should parents track their children? As kids get older, they often have more freedom to walk home from school, bike to a friend’s house, or take the bus to sports practice. Many parents like using tracking apps, which reassure them that their children are where they’re supposed to be. But others feel this invades kids’ privacy. What do you think? Your child can vote in our big debate!
