A Message from Ms. Consolla

I'm so excited for Fall Fest tonight! Thank you to our amazing PTA volunteers who have come together for this spectacular event. It truly is one of the best events of the year.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Boundary Review Community meeting at nearby Sandburg MS. I invite everyone to engage in this process as Fort Hunt will be impacted by all of the proposed scenarios. See below for more information.

I'm sharing again the invitation to nominate an outstanding staff member at Fort Hunt for the FCPS Outstanding Employee Award. Even if the employee does not move forward in the process, we do share the nominations with our staff. It means so much and only takes a few minutes. See below for the link to the nominating form. The deadline is next Friday, October 31.

As always, thank you for your partnership with us in your child's education at Fort Hunt.

Upcoming Dates

There will be a 2-hour early release on Friday, October 31. It's the last day of quarter when there is always a 2-hour early release. Dismissal will be at 1:40pm. There will be no school on Monday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 4.

Halloween at Fort Hunt

Next Friday is Halloween. Some families choose to celebrate it, and others choose not to. We respect each family's choice. Some students and staff members might choose to come to school wearing something festive, fun and in the spirit of Halloween next Friday. That's fine as long as there are no additional props, masks and/or make-up. No scary or gory costumes, and shoes must be worn by all. There are no parties or parades, just another great day of learning.

Expectations Around the Reading & Writing Grades for Your Child

You might notice that your student's progress report grades in English language arts (ELA) look a little different and lower than you might expect. This is happening because last year we brought in a new curriculum and new ways to check on learning (assessments), and there are new state guidelines called the VDOE Standards of Learning.

FCPS is raising the bar and setting high goals! We are teaching and grading students on the big skills they need by the very end of the school year. Think of it like going on a journey. It’s challenging at first, but on your journey, you learn your way — and maybe even a few shortcuts!

First quarter grades may seem lower than usual as students work hard to reach grade-level mastery.

Please know that this is a positive, expected part of the learning journey. We are here to support every student as they grow and achieve. We are celebrating the effort and growth toward these new, higher standards!

Progress reports will be available in ParentVUE on Monday, November 10 and sent home in the Wednesday folder on November 12.

✅ Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. We will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, November 12.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. This year, FCPS expects to receive approximately $4 million in Impact Aid funding. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Register for ParentVUE

Learn how to activate your SISParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey and have access to other helpful information about your child.

Technical support for using ParentVUE or submitting the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type “Federal Impact Aid Survey” in the Issue Description section. You may also call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).

Bond Referendums Support Communities

The building and renovation of Fairfax County public schools is not funded through the division’s annual operating budget. Voter-approved bonds allow payment for these projects over time. A $460 million bond referendum is on the November ballot. Read more about the 2025 Bond Referendum. Learn more about registering to vote. Make a plan to vote by Tuesday, November 4.
