Nissan has unveiled a prototype of the Sakura electric vehicle with an onboard solar power system at the Japan Mobility Show. The Ao-Solar Extender system, which was developed in-house, integrates directly into the vehicle and can generate electricity for up to 1,800 miles of driving annually. "This initiative not only reinforces Nissan's leadership in environmentally conscious innovation but also highlights how the company is actively shaping the future of EV ownership with practical, eco-friendly technologies," says a company statement.

Eight Sleep update keeps sweet slumber safe from cloud outages
Eight Sleep has introduced an outage mode for its smart beds after an AWS outage left users unable to adjust temperature and elevation settings. The new feature allows the Eight Sleep app to connect directly with Pod devices via Bluetooth during cloud infrastructure outages, ensuring users can still control their beds.

GM to debut eyes-off driving in 2028 Escalade IQ
General Motors is moving to software-defined vehicles by integrating an Nvidia AGX Drive Thor platform in vehicles as of 2028, enabling vehicles to receive frequent over-the-air updates, expand autonomous driving capabilities and support a system that can continuously evolve with new features. Relatedly, GM's Super Cruise driver-assistance system will be upgraded starting with the 2028 Cadillac Escalade IQ and will feature a lidar sensor for the first time, enabling "eyes-off" driving, expanding Super Cruise's capabilities from select highways into more complex urban environments.
