And for a considerable share of Americans, it really has been a while since they took PTO: a new survey found that almost a quarter of employees haven’t taken one vacation day in the past year. A softer-than-expected CPI inflation report for September sent stocks off to the races on Friday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 setting fresh intraday and closing record highs. The benchmark US stock index closed up 0.8%, the Nasdaq 100 gained 1%, and the Russell 2000 advanced about 1.2%.
