LFG. 🔥 Look At The Choices You MakeIf it were always about being cheaper, you would never do anything. When’s the last time you went out to dinner with your partner? Did you just grab a quick meal, or did you make the night special? Why didn’t you just order Chipotle from DoorDash? Dollar for dollar, Chipotle is probably one of the most cost effective ways to eat. So why didn’t you and your partner go there on your date night?
You can’t be cheaper than Amazon. You can’t be faster than Chipotle. So why bother? Being Cheaper Is A Race To The BottomThere’s only one winner in the race to the bottom. And it most likely won’t be you. Someone will win the game of being “the most generic,” but you’ll probably come in second place, or seventh, or eighteenth. When you lose the race to the bottom, you have nothing else to stand on. At that point, your only option is to keep lowering your prices. Every sales call becomes a tug of war between how cheap you can go and how little you can survive on. It’s much more effective to race to the top. How To Win The Race To The TopBe different. I’ve written a lot about the book Purple Cow by Seth Godin. The idea is simple. It’s more important to be different than it is to be better. Being different is the opposite of being generic. When you carve your own path, there’s no one left to compete with. Who can compete with you at being you? AI, spam, and robocalls make this even more true. You must find a way to bring value to the marketplace while being uniquely yourself. Here Are Two ExamplesThe trick is to find a differentiator that makes price irrelevant. You’re not building a commodity. You’re solving a very specific problem that only you can solve. For example: My sobriety is a differentiator.There aren’t many people who live in the intersection of addiction treatment, recovery, digital marketing, advertising, and lead generation. No one else can do what I can do, because no one else has my experience. I race to the top, which is why I’ve built two agencies in this space. After I sold my stake in Stodzy, I built Quantum Leads and surpassed one million in monthly recurring revenue within a few months. This created the cash flow I needed to build my holdings company and reinvest in other areas. The Machine Method is another differentiator.Ninety nine percent of people in the info space sell the same offer, recycle the same content, and repackage the same ideas they learned from other courses. Very few of them built real businesses before selling their info products. That’s why you see the same recycled ideas everywhere. My experience is different. I’ve documented my own process and built a coaching program from real experience. The Machine Method is mine.
