Making sure you're not paying too much for pet insurance via Switch and Save has never been more important as vets come under fire for high prices.

Veterinarians are charging well above inflation, with large veterinary groups charging 16.6% more on average than independent practices, according to a Competition and Markets Authority investigation released in October 2025.

The revelations led the CMA to propose major reforms, which would include vets being asked to publish price lists so pet owners can see costs up front and capping prescription medication costs.

However, it's not clear if and when those changes will come into force. Which means making sure you're on the best insurance policy possible is crucial.
