PTSO Fill the Bag Drive
Fill The Bag-Donations Due December 15th
Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to our grocery card drive. Before Thanksgiving, we were able to distribute $2,000 in grocery gift cards to Woodson families, prioritizing those most affected by the delay in SNAP assistance.
We will continue distributing the remaining funds before Winter Break.
Because the need has grown, we are extending the drive through December 15. Additional funds will be used to fill grocery bags with staple items that our families rely on.
There are two ways you can donate:

Option 2: If you would like to shop for pantry staples, please send us a message or email at woodsonhsptso@gmail.com and we’ll connect you with our community outreach team on the best items to shop for and how to drop them off.

Summer Study Abroad 2026 Parent Night January 13th at 6 PM
Are you interested in a summer study abroad in high school? The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) has 3-4 week-long international programs for language and culture, engineering, marine biology, arts, international relations, STEM, social change and more in 35 different countries around the world. In addition to the learning, this is a great way for students to gain more independence and confidence, and stand out on their college application.
Students are invited to choose experiential learning programs in over 30 study centers worldwide in Summer 2026! All Language and Culture (L&C) programs are educationally aligned with the ACTFL standard of language learning in secondary school. Students participating in L&C programs can opt-in for 4 college credits for only $150.00. CIEE School of record is fully accredited by Tulane University.
There are two different types of scholarships available. The first is needs based scholarships, which are mostly available for language programs for students in grades 9-11. Merit scholarships are available for students of all levels. Students can also save $200 by using this referral code to open an application.

Woodson Ice Hockey Club
Junior Wyatt Borgeson warms up before the game
Our RAVS hockey team beat Alexandria 8-2 Friday night! This team is on FIRE this year, with a 4-1 record so far. None of our Woodson players scored but Junior, Wyatt Borgeson (#76), had 2 assists and Senior Goalie, Max Eister, saved 17 of the 19 shots on net. This Friday, Dec 12, we play Woodbridge at The St. James at 8:10pm. We sure could use some more students in our cheering section!
Woodson Varsity Gymnastics
Girls Varisty Gymnastics took 1st place in their first meet of the season at WSHS
On December 3rd the Girls Varsity Gymnastics team competed in their first meet of the season at West Springfield High School. The team took 1st place out of five schools with an overall team score of 131. Ainslee Girard placed 1st on Vault and 2nd on Bars. Ari Smith took 1st place on Bars and Beam. Giana Betharon placed 3rd on Bars. Amelia Mazur-Chang placed 2nd on Beam and 1st on Floor. Delaney Poole placed 2nd on Floor. Congrats to the team! The next meet is on December 9th at West Potomac.
