Dear Friend,
We hope you’ve had a warm and wonderful beginning to 2026! As we welcome in the new year, we are excited to present upcoming programs that celebrate new beginnings and commemorate our history.
Join us for a festive Lunar New Year celebration on January 30 at Ma马-jong & Games, featuring drinks, dim sum, fortunes, and of course, a full gamut of Mahjong and other games. We are also honored to be hosting a live Serica Storytellers for the Day of Remembrance at the Noguchi Museum on February 21, featuring the translators and editors of By the Shore of Lake Michigan, a collection of WWII-era Japanese concentration camp tanka poetry.
In this month’s newsletter, read recaps of our recent news and events — including an intimate and moving Serica Storytellers on the Rosemead film and AAPI mental health, an exclusive interview with actor and activist BD Wong, and new additions to our staff and interns teams! We also invite you to shape what’s ahead by filling out our 2025 End of Year survey and suggesting the programs you’d like to see for our community — and receive a free ticket to an upcoming event! Finally, as always, treat yourself to the wonderful events, updates, and programs from our community network.
From all of us here, thank you for all you do for our community, and cheers to a joyful year ahead!
Warmly,
Andrea Louie
Executive Director, The Serica Initiative
