Public Hearing: Superintendent's Recommended Adjustments to Comprehensive School Boundary Review

The Fairfax County School Board will hold a final Public Hearing on FCPS School Boundaries on January 22, 2026 at 6:15 p.m. before the Regular Meeting. The Public Hearing will take place at Luther Jackson Middle School (3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church) in the auditorium.

Winter Weather Information

Youtube video on FCPS winter weather decision making

Prepare for Winter Weather

The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority any time a decision must be made regarding school closures and delays during a weather situation. Watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS.

In the case of emergency for a weather-related closing, delay, or early dismissal, the FCPS’ website will be updated first and includes an alert at the top of each page with the appropriate information. This information will remain posted until normal operations have resumed, or you click "Close This Alert" to remove it. If you have closed the alert, a red exclamation mark will remain to indicate that the alert is still active.

Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.

Adopt a Fairfax County Fire Hydrant graphic

Adopt a Fire Hydrant

With the potential for a significant snowstorm this weekend, now is the time to consider adopting a fire hydrant in your neighborhood. There are thousands of hydrants available to adopt across the county. By adopting a hydrant, you play a vital role in ensuring our Fire and Rescue Department can respond more quickly in an emergency. When you remove snow and ice from around the hydrant after storms, it ensures the hydrant is visible and accessible.

Those who adopt a hydrant will receive an official certificate of adoption to celebrate their commitment.
