Principals’ Corner
Although it is a shorter four-day week, we have certainly packed a lot of meaningful work into our time together. During our Tuesday morning staff meeting, our teachers dedicated themselves to deepening their knowledge of English Language Development (ELD) strategies. During our time together, staff intentionally planned instructional next steps to implement in the classroom. Staff determined which strategies would best support students’ progress such as implementing sentence stems, visuals, and/or cued motions to engage students and support their learning.
Next week, we look forward to having families join us on Tuesday to see some of this work in action during our Language Arts block. It is a wonderful opportunity to see firsthand how our teachers are creating inclusive and dynamic learning environments for every student.
We are also thrilled to announce the return of our Watch D.O.G.S. and M.O.M.s program this year! This program is a vital part of our school culture, and we invite all interested parents and guardians to learn more about how to get involved.

Showcasing Excellence: Benchmark Family Information Session
Have you ever wondered what happens during your child's literacy block? This is a wonderful opportunity to see firsthand how our students are growing as readers and writers through the Benchmark curriculum. Join us on Tuesday, January 27 from 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m for the following:

Learn & Connect: Our Reading Specialist, Kristina Reukema, will lead a presentation explaining the "why" and "how" behind the Science of Reading and the Benchmark program in the cafeteria.

Benchmark in Action: This is the exciting part! You will have the chance to visit classrooms in small groups. Along with our Admin team and Ms. Reukema, you will have the opportunity to see snapshots of daily instruction to see authentic learning as it happens.

Q&A Session: We will wrap up the morning with a dedicated time for questions to help deepen your understanding of our literacy goals and how we support your child.
To ensure a smooth and secure morning, please remember to bring your ID. All visitors are required to check in at the front office upon arrival. Please note that only individuals who have checked in through the office will be permitted to participate in the classroom visits.
Immunization Events for FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide school-required immunizations and optional flu shots for all FCPS students with no out-of-pocket costs. Multiple events will take place at designated FCPS locations. Additional dates will be available throughout the school year.
Parents or guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary. View immunization resources on the FCPS website.

RINCÓN DE LOS DIRECTORES
Aunque se trata de una semana más corta de cuatro días, hemos aprovechado al máximo nuestro tiempo juntos realizando un trabajo muy valioso. Durante la reunión de personal del martes por la mañana, nuestros maestros se dedicaron a profundizar sus conocimientos sobre las estrategias de desarrollo del idioma inglés (ELD). Durante la reunión, el personal planificó intencionalmente los siguientes pasos de instrucción para implementar en el aula. Los maestros determinaron qué estrategias apoyarían mejor el progreso de los estudiantes, como el uso de estructuras de oraciones, recursos visuales y/o gestos para motivar a los estudiantes y apoyar su aprendizaje.
La próxima semana, esperamos que las familias nos acompañen el martes para ver parte de este trabajo en acción durante la clase de Lengua y Literatura. Es una maravillosa oportunidad para ver de primera mano cómo nuestros maestros están creando entornos de aprendizaje inclusivos y dinámicos para cada estudiante.
También nos complace anunciar el regreso de nuestro programa Watch D.O.G.S. y M.O.M.s este año. Este programa es una parte vital de la cultura de nuestra escuela, e invitamos a todos los padres y tutores interesados a obtener más información sobre cómo participar.

Mostrando la excelencia: Sesión informativa para familias sobre el programa Benchmark
¿Alguna vez se ha preguntado qué sucede durante el bloque de lectura y escritura de su hijo/a? Esta es una excelente oportunidad para ver de primera mano cómo nuestros estudiantes están progresando como lectores y escritores a través del programa Benchmark. Acompáñenos el martes 27 de enero de 9:30 a. m. a 10:15 a. m. para lo siguiente:
Aprenda y conéctese: Nuestra especialista en lectura, Kristina Reukema, presentará una explicación sobre el fundamento y la metodología de la Ciencia de la Lectura y el programa Benchmark en la cafetería.
Benchmark en acción: ¡Esta es la parte más interesante! Tendrán la oportunidad de visitar las aulas en pequeños grupos. Junto con nuestro equipo administrativo y la Sra. Reukema, podrán observar ejemplos de la instrucción diaria y presenciar el aprendizaje auténtico en acción.
Sesión de preguntas y respuestas: Concluiremos la mañana con un espacio dedicado a preguntas para profundizar su comprensión de nuestros objetivos de alfabetización y cómo apoyamos a su hijo/a.
Para garantizar una mañana organizada y segura, recuerde traer su identificación. Todos los visitantes deben registrarse en la oficina principal al llegar. Tenga en cuenta que solo las personas que se hayan registrado en la oficina podrán participar en las visitas a las aulas.
Eventos de Vacunación para los Estudiantes de FCPS
FCPS, en asociación con la organización Inspire Health Alliance, estará ofreciendo sin costo alguno vacunas obligatorias para la escuela y vacunas opcionales contra la “flu” o influenza a todos los estudiantes de FCPS. Se realizan múltiples eventos en lugares determinados de FCPS. Se programarán fechas adicionales a lo largo del año escolar. Padres y tutores podrían revisar las fechas de los próximos eventos y programar citas para vacunar a sus estudiantes. La participación es completamente voluntaria.
