FCPS’ 2026-27 Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program lottery is open. The program offers students in kindergarten and first grade the opportunity to learn in English and another language — French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish — for half of each instructional day.
The online, countywide lottery is open to Fairfax County residents. Families must have a SIS ParentVUE account. Students not currently enrolled in FCPS should register at their base school before applying for the immersion program.
Families applying for first grade must do so by Thursday, February 12, at 4 p.m. Those applying for kindergarten must do so by Monday, March 2, at 4 p.m.
Informational meetings are on the FCPS calendar. If you have questions, please contact Brigid Williams at 571-423-4600.
Download App to Sign In/Out at Schools for Volunteering and Meetings
Sangster Elementary is transitioning to a new visitor management kiosk where you'll need to scan both sides of your Driver's License every time you sign in.
However, if you download the Raptor app, you can set up your profile at home, which will generate a permanent QR code that you can scan instead of your license.
You'll be able to quickly scan your phone, grab your printed badge, and be on your way. You'll scan your phone again to sign out. Get instructions on how to set it up!

 7th Grade Course Schedules
Lake Braddock Middle School
Ms. Augenstein is providing academic advising as needed all this month for Course Selection. Our deadline to enter final course selections into SIS is Thursday, January 29. Contact Ms. Augenstein for information and help. Here is a chart for the timeline and a list of resources for students and families.
Irving Middle School
Ms. Augenstein is providing academic advising as needed until Feb. 6. Our deadline to enter final course selections into SIS is Thursday, Feb. 12. Contact Ms. Augenstein for information and help. Here is a chart for the timeline and a list of resources for students and families.
AAP School Designation in SIS/STUDENT VUE
All AAP students are designated Lake Braddock in Student Vue until parents indicate their plan to defer to Irving. Please return your child’s signed paper course selection sheet for Irving and please complete this form that was sent to families from the FCPS AAP Office, if you haven’t done so already. This will allow Irving to show up as the designated school in your StudentVue account and will allow your child and Mrs. Augenstein to enter course selections into StudentVue for the desired school.
Ms. Augenstein will be working with Irving students during the next two weeks to provide academic advising – as needed, and will help students enter their course selections online. Email with any questions PHAugenstein@fcps.edu.
If your child is zoned for Lake Braddock Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year (and eventually Lake Braddock Secondary), you have the following options:
-
Lake Braddock Full-Time (Level IV) Program – similar to their current placement OR
-
Decline AAP services and enroll in Honors classes at Lake Braddock
If your child is zoned for Irving Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year (and eventually West Springfield High School), you have the following options:
-
Lake Braddock Full-Time (Level IV) Program – similar to their current placement. Students would return to West Springfield for 9th grade. OR
-
Local Level IV (also called Cluster classes) at Irving – this provides full-time AAP classes in 7th and 8th grades, similar to what they experience now. OR
-
Decline AAP services and enroll in Honors classes at Irving.
What is the difference/advantage of declining AAP services and choosing Honors classes?
- The curriculum is the same, but Honors classes may offer more flexibility.
- At both Irving and Lake Braddock, Full-Time (Level IV) students take AAP English, History, and Science as part of the program.
- Students choosing Honors can take Honors courses in subjects they’re passionate about (e.g., math and science) and take general education classes in areas where they prefer a lighter load.
Additional Information to Consider
World Languages
- LBSS offers Level 1 world language options in 7th grade.
- Irving offers Level 1 only for Spanish for Heritage Speakers and German Immersion students.
Math Pathways
- This year, Irving was not able to offer in-person Algebra 2 Honors. Students took the course through FCPS Online as a cohort. This may change next year.
- Lake Braddock students were able to take Algebra 2 in person.
- Either way, students receive the instruction they need—just through different delivery models.
