CMS IDM Customers, The external outage, impacting some users not being able to get MFA codes via email (Thu 22 Jan in the afternoon/evening), has been reported as being resolved (around 01:46am EST on Fri 23 Jan 2026) and was tracked via these pages:

It is recommended that users setup two or more MFA devices for future cases where there may be similar impacts. This may be done by logging into the IDM Home page (https://home.idm.cms.gov/) and going to the My Profile -> Manage MFA and Recovery Devices -> Add another device. In addition to email, users can setup to get MFA codes via SMS/text, IVR (automated phone call), Okta Verify, and Google Authenticator and as noted it is encouraged to setup at least two or more.
