Inclement Weather Reminders

As we prepare for potential winter weather, we want to remind our Academy students that, in the event of a 2-hour delay, all transportation to Chantilly Academy is cancelled.  Feeder students should remain at their base school and follow your base school's procedures for where Academy students should go during their class time.

Stay informed of school closures and delays by visiting the FCPS Weather Cancellations Procedures webpage

Future Engineers in Action!

When you hear machines humming and buzzing in the Academy hallway, you can bet that there is something exciting happening in one of our classrooms!  In our engineering classroom, students are making connections between what they learn in the classroom and how those concepts come to life in the real world through hands-on, co-curricular experiences.

This week, a pair of engineering students were preparing for an upcoming TSA competition by designing and building a CO2 car. They are using many different machines and tools that are at their disposal to design and cut out elements for their car made of both wood and 3D printed parts.  Another student was busy cutting out aluminum plates on the CNC machine for his robot for the Robotics Club.  The student designed the plates to his desired specifications, entered those specs into the computer, and monitored as the CNC machine cut out the plates.

Through these co-curricular clubs, students are not only reinforcing classroom learning but also taking creative risks, building confidence and developing their engineering mindset. These authentic, student-driven experiences help prepare them for future academic and career pathways while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
