Check out our incoming rising 7th graders, who came to visit Franklin today. We put on a very warm welcome. Also, students enjoying lunch outdoors on our patio, a sight that may not be possible for a while.
Our rising 7th graders were welcomed in the gym as they learned about Franklin and took part in tours that were led by our 8th graders.
Franklin Community,
As we head into the weekend, we are keeping a close eye on the winter weather forecast and the potential for snowfall in the days ahead. We wish all of our students and families a safe, fun, and restful weekend as you enjoy the winter weather. Please be sure to check the FCPS website and FCPS social media channels for the most up-to-date information regarding school status, delays, or closures should weather conditions impact the school week.
This week, we were excited to host our Rising 7th Grade Orientation, an important step in welcoming our newest Falcons to Franklin. This event gave students an opportunity to learn more about middle school, ask questions, and begin feeling comfortable in our building. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Student Services team for all of their hard work in planning and organizing such a thoughtful and informative experience. We are already looking forward to welcoming our incoming 7th graders next year and supporting them as they begin their middle school journey.
As we approach the start of the second semester, we want to take a moment to remind families of the importance of regular school attendance. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year—approximately 18 days—and can occur even when absences are excused. Consistent attendance is critical to student success, as being present in school allows students to fully engage in learning, build strong relationships with peers and teachers, and develop positive habits that support academic growth. We appreciate your continued partnership in making school attendance a priority and helping students stay connected, supported, and on track for success.
We are currently seeking a Track Coach for our spring season and would love your help spreading the word! This is a stipend position, and practices are held two days per week beginning after spring break, with five Saturday meets scheduled from late April through May. Coaching track is a wonderful opportunity to connect with students while helping them build resiliency, a strong work ethic, and lasting friendships. If you are interested or know someone who may be a great fit, please reach out to Mr. Chris Tippins at wctippins@fcps.edu for more information.
