Congratulations to Bryant’s Outstanding Secondary Teacher, Ms. Dobson!
Ms. Dobson was selected by Bryant High School and also named the West Potomac Pyramid Outstanding Secondary Teacher. As our Literacy Specialist, she dedicates her work to helping students build strong literacy skills, providing targeted reading support, and collaborating with teachers to embed effective literacy strategies into classroom instruction. We wish Ms. Dobson the very best as she moves forward for consideration as the Region 3 Outstanding Secondary Teacher.

Greetings Bryant Families!
What a great week! I continue to be impressed by the hard work our students are doing as they finish the semester strong.
Recognizing the importance of taking care of the whole student, we took a short break today, to hold our monthly Wellness Day. Students enjoyed a variety of activities, including Bryant’s Minds Matter positive affirmation board, games, a nail salon, Fresco ball, and open gym. Students were also treated to a noodle bar, popcorn, and cookies.
We also debuted our newest student space—the Bear Den. The Bear Den is a positive behavior support designed to give students a place to relax, connect with peers, and take a brain break. The space includes arcade-style games and comfortable seating, and we look forward to continuing to expand how students can use the room.
Finally, please note the following important dates:
-
February 4–5: Many students will participate in WIDA assessments during WIDA Palooza. Please avoid scheduling appointments on these days whenever possible so students can complete testing.
-
February 11: Bryant High School will host Winter Graduation. There will be no school for students who are not participating so staff may support the ceremony.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Take Care!
Cindy Conley
Principal
Prepare for Winter Weather
Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather closing decisions are made at FCPS.
FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible, including email, text, social media, the new FCPS mobile app, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated.
Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange emergency child care if needed.
⛄ Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities
We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories that may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. View the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.
If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please call Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health.
Highlighting our Community Partnerships
Bryant High School is grateful to the WISH (Workforce. Innovation, Skills, Hub) Center for supporting our Satellite Saturday School by providing a space for our staff and students to meet so students can work on assignments, receive academic support, and take assessments. This Saturday, January 24, we will hold our Satellite Saturday School at the WISH Center (7950 Audubon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22306) from 9:00 am -12:00 pm.
We will also be holding a Satellite Saturday School session this Saturday at Annandale High School in room 18 from 8:30-11:30 am.
WIDA Palooza are February 4 and 5
WIDA testing will be happening at our school on February 4th and 5th. This test helps us understand how students are developing English language skills so we can better support their learning.
Your partnership plays an important role. Talking at home about why the WIDA English language assessment matters, encouraging confidence and best effort, and helping students get enough rest and arrive on time can make a big difference.
We encourage you to ask your child at home: “Your WIDA test is coming up—do you have any questions about it, or anything you need to be ready for the test?” To learn more about the WIDA assessment, visit: What Is WIDA ACCESS for ELLs?
We value our partnership with you and are here if you have questions or would like to connect.
