Dear Travel Fan, As I write this on Friday afternoon, much of the United States is bracing for the arrival of a major winter storm that’s projected to drop snow and ice on a large swath of the country. Ahead of the storm, we’ve been covering the effects on travel. We also have a roundup of advice on what to do if your flight is canceled or delayed and tips for driving in the winter weather. On the heels of our annual 52 Places to Go list, we’ve got a look at the trends in travel for the coming year, from the latest wellness treatments to the rise of something called the microvacation. Greenland was one of our 52 Places in 2025 in part because of a new international airport. The island, a semiautonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, has seen a tourism boom, but as President Trump has threatened to take it over, there’s uncertainty over whether visitors will keep coming. (By the way, if you’re a reader of the print paper, the 52 list will be a special section on Sunday.) Also this week, our Tripped Up columnist, Seth Kugel, helps out a traveler whose rental car was damaged by a passing truck, and we visit Kangaroo Island, the Australian island known for its wildlife, which was severely damaged by fires in 2020. Our 36 Hours column stops in Mexico City, a destination rich in history and art and with an inventive food scene. The weight-loss drugs known as known as GLP-1s have had a big impact on health care, and now there’s evidence they might also affect travel: As passengers weigh less, airlines may use less fuel, saving money. If you’re traveling this weekend, I wish you good luck — stay safe and warm,
