To the cheers and applause of thousands of BookCon attendees, “Heated Rivalry” author Rachel Reid and director-screenwriter Jacob Tierney walked on to the main event stage at New York’s Jacob Javits Convention Center. The two Canadians have been international celebrities for just a few months, and still find themselves wondering if all the noise is for someone else.

“We don’t really get to experience this kind of energy and fandom in person very often,” Tierney told The Associated Press just after their joint appearance, a highlight of the weekend gathering of (mostly) young book fans. “It’s been a bit more of an amorphous online thing.”

Since the first episode of “Heated Rivalry” dropped last November, Tierney’s adaptation of Reid’s “Game Changer” series featuring star-crossed hockey greats Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov has become a phenomenon that boosted the sport’s popularity, made Reid a leader of the thriving genre of sports romance fiction and made Olympic torchbearers out of lead actors Hudson Williams (Shane) and Connor Storrie (Ilya). Tierney expects to begin filming the second season this summer, based in part on the second of Reid’s novels about Shane and Ilya, “The Long Game.” The author, meanwhile, is working on a third Shane and Ilya book, “Unrivaled.” Both are scheduled for 2027 releases.

“Terrifier” star David Howard Thornton got clown on one knee and popped the question to fiancée Jada Christine — while he was in full Art the Clown costume and makeup.

The two were attending the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo over the weekend in Alabama when Thornton, wearing his now iconic outfit from the hit horror movie franchise, is seen in video posted on Saturday crouching down.

Christine puts her hand to her mouth in shock and excitement. As Thornton pops the big question from behind the black-and-white mask covering his entire face, he asks, “Will you marry me?”

Jenna Bush Hager sat down to interview each of the four former living U.S. presidents: Joe Biden, 83; Barack Obama, 64; Bill Clinton, 79; and her father, George W. Bush, 79.

But only one man gave her a hard time: her father.

Jenna spoke individually with each president at a private event in Philadelphia hosted by the History Channel. The event, named “History Talks,” traditionally features former presidents, and it was done in partnership with Comcast, which owns NBC Universal. This year marks the third time she formally interviewed her father at this event.

Alan Osmond, the oldest member of family singing group The Osmonds, died Monday. He was 76.

His wife, Suzanne, and their eight sons were by his side at the time of his passing, according to a statement obtained by NBC affiliate KSL-TV.

Alan, one of nine Osmond siblings, had retired from performing four decades ago after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987. 

Global superstar Karol G announced a new tour on Tuesday, which will include a stop later this year in Massachusetts.

The tour announcement comes after her performances at Coachella over the past two weekends, where she became the first Latina artist to headline the festival.

Karol G’s “Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour” kicks off July 24 in Chicago, and is scheduled to stop at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Christina Applegate is recovering following reports of her being hospitalized.

The 54-year-old actor, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in June 2021, shared a statement on Instagram amid her ongoing health struggles.

“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes,” she wrote April 20. “Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day.”
