Earth Day 2026’s theme is “Our Power, Our Planet,” which focuses on a push for renewable energy and community-driven action. This year, we’re doing our part by making sustainable swaps that are simple, long-term changes we can make to our daily routines.
For example, NBC Select reporter Zoe Malin swapped her plastic resealable bags for reusable Stasher bags. NBC Select intern Kalohe Danbara and NBC page Sinclair Walker both use clothing rental companies like Nuuly and Rent the Runway, great alternatives to fast fashion.
Other simple swaps include using a plastic-free phone case, editor-loved reusable makeup wipes, EPA-approved cleaning products, eco-friendly laundry detergents and using plastic-free sponges and food containers.
Even if you’re not ready to give up your favorite one-use or plastic-forward products, shopping for new items from Climate Neutral brands, thrifting instead of buying new and investing in a smart thermostat for your home or office can make an impactful difference.
