Why hand size and wingspan can be make-or-break measurements for NFL draft prospects

Top college players may have the touchdowns and yards, but to be a top selection in the NFL draft, prospects must not only be good on the field. They also need the right hand size, wingspan and 40-yard dash time.

Bigger hands allow quarterbacks more grip; bigger receivers present bigger targets; longer arms allow for more control. Often, a player must literally measure up by fitting into one of the league’s established molds.
