Office of the Spokesperson

The Department of State is pleased to announce the appointment of Tommy Pigott as the State Department Spokesperson.

As Spokesperson, Pigott will speak directly to audiences in the United States and around the world on how, under the leadership of Secretary Marco Rubio, the State Department is advancing President Trump’s foreign policy. He will spearhead engagements with the Department’s press corps and broader media; and provide strategic input on communications and messaging.

Pigott joined the Department and the Trump administration in January 2025, serving as Principal Deputy Spokesperson. He has almost a decade of communications experience, previously having worked on President Donald J. Trump’s 2024 campaign and at the Republican National Committee.

Hailing from New Jersey, Pigott earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a master’s degree from the George Washington University’s School of Media & Public Affairs.
