I was totally overthinking the garden layout. Started with just a few raised beds last spring but the soil mix was too dense. Adding perlite and compost made a huge difference for drainage. The tomatoes went crazy once I staked them properly. I'm thinking of putting in a small drip irrigation system this year so I don't have to haul the hose around every evening. It gets so hot here in July and the leaves start to curl if they don't get enough water consistently. I saw your photos from last summer your zinnias looked incredible. Did you start those from seed indoors or direct sow after the last frost? I tried marigolds around the border as companion plants and they really did cut down on the aphids. Also going to try a few cucumber vines trellised up against the fence to save space. Everything takes longer than I expect but it's worth it when stuff actually grows. Might switch to a soaker hose setup just to keep the leaves dry and prevent mildew. Anyway keep me posted on your spring plans MOFkOT6JqIuD I'd love to know what varieties you're trying this year.

I borrowed my neighbor's cordless drill to hang some shelves and it was a game changer. Now I'm looking at getting my own set just for basic home projects. I mostly need something for driving screws into studs and maybe the occasional pilot hole into tile or metal. I don't need the heaviest duty hammer drill but I don't want something that bogs down on a simple 2x4 either. I saw a kit that came with two batteries and a charger plus a driver and a small circular saw. That might be overkill for now but the extra battery means I can always have one charging. I hate it when I'm in the middle of something and the battery dies. Do you think brushless is worth the extra cost for occasional use? I've heard they last longer and have more torque but I'm not sure I'd notice the difference. I mostly do small stuff like putting up curtain rods or assembling furniture but I'm trying to get into slightly bigger builds like a simple bench for the entryway. I found some plans online that only need a few 2x4s and some pocket holes. I just need a reliable tool that won't let me down halfway through.
