I caught up with my neighbor last night and she was telling me about this hiking trail she found up near the ridge. She said the views were incredible and there is this little creek about halfway that makes for a perfect rest stop. I told her I might try it this weekend if the weather holds up. She mentioned it takes about three hours round trip with some moderate climbing but nothing too crazy. I asked if there is a map online and she said the park service has a PDF that shows all the trailheads. I am thinking of bringing a light pack with some water and a snack maybe an apple and a granola bar. She said to watch for loose rocks near the top especially after the rain we had last week. I figure I will start early so I can be back by early afternoon. It has been a while since I did a proper hike so this might be a nice reset. I could use a slow morning on the trail. She also said the parking lot fills up fast on weekends so that is something to plan around. I might bring a book in case I want to sit by the creek for a while before heading back. She said there is a bench near the top that someone built out of fallen logs. I guess regulars maintain it.

Oh I have to tell you about this new coffee shop I stumbled upon last Tuesday. It is tucked away on a side street and the whole place has this really warm vibe with mismatched chairs and shelves full of old books you can actually borrow while you sit there. The barista recommended their lavender latte and I was skeptical at first but it was genuinely good not too sweet and the lavender was subtle. I brought a notebook and ended up staying for almost two hours just writing and watching people come and go. There is a back patio with string lights and a couple of olive trees in pots. I think you would really like the atmosphere. I am already planning to go back this weekend maybe try one of their pastries. The girl at the counter said they bake everything in-house and the cardamom bun sells out by noon. I might go a little earlier to snag one. Let me know if you want to join sometime I think you would dig the playlist too lots of old jazz and folk records. I am hoping they become a regular spot for me. It has that kind of energy.
