Kings Park Field Day and Grad Walk group pictures

Dear Kings Park Families,

This past week was a wonderful reminder of what makes our Kings Park community so special. During Field Day events, students demonstrated perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship. On Thursday, we welcomed back graduating seniors for our annual Graduation Walk. Seeing former students return in their caps and gowns was an inspiring moment for our current students and staff. Tomorrow, our third graders will take a similar walk through our halls as they prepare for their next, exciting chapter. No matter where our students’ stories lead, they will always be main characters in Kings Park’s story. Once a Lion, always a Lion!

There is so much to celebrate from this school year, and we are deeply grateful for the partnership, support, and commitment of our students, staff, and families. We are especially proud to share that we met our ambitious school-wide goal of achieving a chronic absenteeism rate below 7% this school year. This achievement reflects the commitment of our students, families, and staff and reinforces that the strongest stories are written through daily opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together.

As summer begins, we hope your family finds time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments together. Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing our students again in August.

Kings Park Admin Team

Sincerely,

Mrs. Dotty Lin, Mrs. Jenn Burke and Mrs. Anna Kaplan

Student Testing Results Coming Soon

Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.

Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families

Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number of days has been reduced from eight to four.

Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Please mark your calendars for Kings Park’s 2026-2027 early release Wednesdays listed below:

  • September 30
  • November 18
  • January 13
  • April 7

Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE

Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.

Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. It is available online and as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices.

Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.

If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up to date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View additional details about ParentVUE.

Activate Your ParentVUE Account to Stay Connected

On Wednesday, July 29, FCPS families who haven't activated their ParentVUE account will receive an email with the subject “Fairfax County Public Schools ParentVUE Activation Letter.”

The email will include instructions to activate a ParentVUE account. If you don’t have an account and don’t receive the email, please check your spam folder or open a Parent Support Request. After July 29, families may also contact Nancy Sawicki at 703-426-7000 or nesawicki@fcps.edu to request a printed activation letter or a new activation key, if needed.

All families are encouraged to activate their accounts as soon as possible to ensure they receive immediate access to important student information and school communications.

For assistance activating your account, please contact our front office. For technical support, create a Parent Support Request.

KP/KG PTA News and Events

On behalf of the PTA board, we’d like to thank everyone for your ongoing support throughout this school year.  We were able to accomplish many things, and provide support, services, and resources to the entire community.  We hope everyone has a fun and relaxing summer!

Supply kits are now available for purchase!  We have partnered with the same vendor as last year, and the kits will be delivered - in a drawstring bag - to your student(s) classroom(s) by Open House.  Visit the website to check out the kits and order!  Remember to order for the grade your student(s) will be in next year.

We are still looking for one more volunteer to complete the required yearly audit of the PTA accounts following the close of the fiscal year on June 30th. This position requires availability in July for 2-4 hours only. Please reach out to Eric at treasurer@kpkgpta.org if you're interested.

The new PTA board will start meeting over the summer to plan out the year.  Interested in helping out next school year?  Check out our volunteer opportunities and sign-up to be a part of the “dream team”
