RVES News and Notes - June 17

June 17 - News and Notes!

Dear Rolling Valley Families,

We have officially finished the 2025-2026 school year!

It was a packed and memorable final week, highlighted by our 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony and our Grades 3-5 Awards Assembly. We are so proud of all of our Rockin' Robins and the growth, perseverance, and accomplishments they demonstrated throughout the year.

A special congratulations goes to our Rockinest Robin Award winners, Aidan and Nianna! Thank you for representing the very best of Rolling Valley and for being outstanding role models for our school community.

To our families, thank you for your partnership, support, and collaboration throughout the year. Your involvement has made a tremendous difference in the success of our students and school.

Today brought many smiles, hugs, and even a few tears as we celebrated another successful year together. We will miss all of our students over the summer!

To our students heading to middle school, we wish you the very best as you begin this exciting new chapter. To those transitioning to Saratoga, we will miss you and are here to support you during your transition. And to our students returning in the fall, we cannot wait to welcome you back for another amazing year at Rolling Valley.

As you enjoy a well-deserved summer break, be sure to check out the Summer Reading Program information below and keep those reading skills sharp.

Have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer!

Attendance Rate!

THANK YOU!

As we close out the school year, we are proud to share that Rolling Valley finished with a 7.2% chronic absenteeism rate, a significant improvement from 10.6% last year.

This accomplishment reflects the collective efforts of our students, families, and staff who worked together to prioritize attendance and ensure students were present for learning each day.

Thank you for your partnership, support, and commitment throughout the year. Your efforts have made a meaningful difference for our students, and we are grateful for all you have done to help us achieve this success.

Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.

Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.

If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.

Summer Resources

Help Students Stay Curious, Healthy, and Busy

The FCPS Summer Resource Guide has activities and tips on a variety of subjects and interests, from camps and activities to health and safety resources.

Be sure to check back over the summer, as more resources may be added.

Learning Doesn’t Take a Vacation and Neither Does Fun! The FCPS Summer Learning webpage offers ideas and strategies for families to keep students curious until August. Summer is the perfect time to help your student explore new interests, reinforce concepts, and stay engaged!

FCPS Summer Learning Resources are now available for students and families. Resources are organized by grade level and provide opportunities for students to review previously taught concepts, practice skills, and explore new ideas throughout the summer.

Families can access the resources at any time as one of many ways to support continued learning and engagement over the summer.

Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.

Camp Details:

Spartan Volleyball Camp is designed and has a session for athletes of all skill levels who are eager to enhance their game in a challenging and supportive environment. Camp sessions are structured by age and skill level to ensure every player receives personalized instruction and the best opportunity for growth.

Campers will have the unique opportunity to train with experienced high school coaches from across the country, as well as current college athletes. Campers in Session A and B will also get to work with the high school athletes from the Virginia State Champions team! Sessions will include individual skill development, group instruction, and competitive tournament play, all designed to help players refine their technique, build confidence, and elevate their overall performance.

Session C is ONLY for advanced players.  Unfortunately, we do not have a session for rising 10th-12th graders who are new to volleyball or who only have freshmen team level experience and/or rec volleyball experience.  Athletes attending Session C must have played on their high school Varsity or JV team or are currently playing on a competitive club team. If you are signing up for Session C, the expectation is that you are playing volleyball at or close to the Varsity level.  Most rising 9th graders should be attending session B.
