The pain of discipline is far less than the pain of regret.

While our basketball season came to a close this week, what our boys and girls basketball programs accomplished will forever be part of South County history. For the first time ever, both programs captured District and Region Championships in the same season. This is a standard-setting achievement and a testament to the work, belief, and unity within both of our programs.
Girls Basketball The Lady Stallions faced Oakton in the State Semifinals on Tuesday night. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead in the first half, but our girls never flinched. They battled possession after possession, cutting the deficit to four points multiple times in the second half. The energy, toughness, and heart were on full display. Despite their relentless effort, Oakton’s top scorer found a rhythm that proved difficult to slow down, and the Stallions came up just short. This group represented our school with pride, resilience, and class all season long and were a joy to watch.
Boys Basketball The boys squared off with George Marshall in a State Quarterfinal that felt like a heavyweight fight. It was a back-and-forth contest featuring multiple lead changes, gritty defense, and high-level intensity from both teams. In a game defined by toughness, the Stallions made the plays that mattered most and earned a 38-36 victory and earned the right to host a State Semifinal game.
On Friday night, South County hosted Landstown High School, last year’s state runner-up, in front of an electric home crowd. The Stallions came out strong, jumping to an early 9-2 lead. Landstown responded by settling into their tempo and controlling the pace for much of the night. Our boys continued to battle, defend, and compete until the final horn, but the Eagles closed it out and ended our remarkable run.
One of the most special parts of this playoff journey was the incredible support from our students, staff, families, and greater South County community. We had packed gyms and championship-level energy at every stop along the way. Our student section showed up loud and proud. Our families traveled. Our community believed. That kind of unified support matters. Our players felt it, our coaches appreciated it, and it elevated the entire experience.
Let’s carry that momentum forward. When our community shows up the way it did this postseason, it strengthens our culture and reinforces what Stallion Pride is all about. The standard has been raised not just on the court, but in the stands as well.
This season was nothing short of historic. Championships, unforgettable moments, and a level of commitment that will echo through our halls for years to come. Most importantly, our student-athletes demonstrated grit, togetherness, and pride in representing South County.
As we close the book on this magical run, we do so with gratitude and tremendous pride. The future remains bright.
Once a Stallion, Always a Stallion.
On Saturday, the Marching Stallions welcomed teams from across the state as South County hosted a major Marching Band and Color Guard competition. Less than 12 hours after serving as the stage for our state semifinal basketball game, the South County gym was transformed into a performance floor for some of the top band programs in the region.
South County did not just host the event, we set the tone. Both of our programs were on full display, delivering exceptional performances in front of a loud and supportive home crowd. The energy in the gym once again reflected the pride and passion of our community.
It was especially meaningful to see our teams compete on their home floor, as they will spend the remainder of the season traveling. We are proud of the way our Marching Stallions continue to represent South County with excellence.
