Centreville Students, Families, and Community,
One of our priorities at Centreville High School is cultivating a positive school culture, and this week was a beautiful example of what that looks like in action. From athletics to academics to the arts, our Wildcats continue to show what it means to lead with pride, perseverance, and positivity.
First, congratulations to our Girls’ Basketball team on an incredible season! While the season did not end exactly as we had hoped, we are immensely proud of all they accomplished. Their dedication, teamwork, and resilience represented Centreville with class all year long.
Our talented Choir and Orchestra programs also took the stage this week for their pre-assessment concerts. These performances not only showcased the tremendous talent of our student musicians but also provided valuable preparation for their upcoming state assessment. Based on what we heard this week, we know they are poised for exceptional performances ahead!
During Junior Focus Day this week our juniors engaged in a variety of meaningful presentations about post-secondary pathways. Whether their plans include college, the military, apprenticeships, or trade schools, students gained valuable insights and practical tools to help them confidently begin mapping out their next steps. It is exciting to see them start shaping their futures with intention.
Meanwhile, Centreville Robotics Team 5243 - AEGIS competed this weekend in an archaeology-themed competition, and their robot, “Reggie” (a fun nod for any Raiders of the Lost Ark fans!), was a standout in every match. Beyond technical excellence, our students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, problem-solving, and Wildcat spirit on their way to becoming one of the top-performing teams in the competition. We are so proud of their innovation and collaboration.
Our commitment to positive culture and belonging was especially evident as our Unified Basketball team traveled to Annandale High School for their FanQuest basketball game. Special Olympics Unified Sports brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, promoting inclusion, friendship, and understanding through competition. Watching our students in the adapted curriculum compete alongside their partner students, with their abilities highlighted and celebrated, is truly inspiring. It was a powerful and energizing kickoff to our upcoming Inclusion Revolution Spirit Week.
This week we celebrate our 2nd Annual Inclusion Revolution Spirit Week. At Centreville, we strive to be a school where everyone is welcomed, celebrated, and feels a true sense of belonging. Inclusion is not simply an initiative, it is who we are. When we embrace inclusivity, students develop stronger social skills, learn to respect and appreciate differences, and build the confidence needed to reach their full potential. A positive school culture means ensuring every Wildcat feels seen, valued, and supported.
We look forward to continuing the celebration with our FanQuest Pep Rally on Wednesday and our FanQuest Unified Basketball event on Thursday evening. I encourage all members of our Wildcat community to come out, show your spirit, and celebrate the diverse strengths and talents that make Centreville such a special place.
Thank you for your continued partnership in building a school culture that lifts up every student. It is a great week to be a Wildcat!

Centreville Students Selected to Boys’ and Girls’ State Programs: The Virginia Boys and Girls State programs are premier, merit-based summer leadership initiatives for rising high school seniors, focusing on hands-on, non-partisan government education. Held in June, Boys State occurs at Radford University while Girls State is at Longwood University, where students create mock, functional state governments. Selection to these programs is highly competitive, with candidates chosen based on leadership, character, scholarship, and service. We extend congratulations to Centreville’s selections for Girls’ State: Joanna Choi and Dina Khashan; and Boys’ State: Saechun Jung and Vaibhav Somesula. These students embody leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, and service to the school and the community.
